Khammam: More number of 2BHK houses were constructed and handed over to beneficiaries united Khammam district compared to any other district in the State, stated Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao here on Thursday.

The Minister participated in various developmental activities and inaugurated 83/11 electric sub-station in Bhagyanagar Thanda of Singareni mandal. He also inaugurated Market Godown at Abbaigudem constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore besides laying a foundation stone for the construction 20 double bedroom houses in Perupalli village.

Speaking on the occasion, the Roads and Buildings Minister said of the sanctioned houses in the first phase, more number of houses were constructed in united Khammam district and handed over to homeless poor. In Wyra constituency, about 400 double bedroom houses were constructed and handed over to beneficiaries.

The homeless poor who could not get 2BHK houses in the first phase could apply again by contacting the official concerned. They would be sanctioned houses in the second phase, assured the Minister.

The government had sanctioned about 18,000 crore under housing scheme. The government was spending about Rs 5.04 lakh for the construction of each house. By establishing residential schools across the State, the government also introduced English medium in them and providing quality education to the children by investing Rs 1.25 lakh on every student, informed the Minister.

Through Sitarama project, water will be supplied to all villages for irrigation purpose, said the Minister. Wyra MLA Madan Lal, ZP Chairperson Gadepalli Kavitha, Rural Development Officer Purnachandra, Tribal Welfare department Executive Engineer M Shankar, ZP Chief Executive Officer Marapaka Nagesh, MPP Banoth Padmavathi, ZPTC Unnam Veerandra, Perupalli MPTC Ganaparapu Padma and Sarpanch Dharavath Eri were present along with others.
