Bhadrachalam: Special Chief Secretary of Irrigation and CAD Department S K Joshi on Tuesday directed the Collector to speed up the land acquisition process for expeditious completion of the prestigious Sitarama lift irrigation scheme.

He was addressing a video conference from Hyderabad with 31 Collectors, during which he reviewed the development works for which land and funds are required. Bhadrachalam Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu informed Joshi that land acquisition for the Sitarama lift irrigation scheme was on at a good pace. He said payment of Rs 17 crore was due and Rs 50 crore was required for acquiring over 600 acres.

District Engineering-in-Chief Sudhakar said works pertaining to the scheme worth Rs 150 crore have been taken up under eight packages. Four of the packages were being speeded up. He stated that the works would be expedited once the forest clearance was obtained.

Joshi suggested that the land acquisition details should be announced at the village level. He stressed that the staff concerned should strive hard to achieve the fixed targets by March 31. For this and speedy completion of works all concerned department should work in coordination.
