Recently, Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao laid the foundation stone for construction of an academic block to the vidyalaya at Chundrigonda and arrangements are under way to lay the stone for the academic blocks at eight other places in the district.

Of the 14 vidyalayas, nine are housed in own buildings while the rest are being run from the rental premises. There are 1905 students in all the vidyalayas. The government sanctioned funds as in many vidyalayas the classrooms also double up as hostel rooms. The institutions at Bhadrachalam, Burgampahad, Allapalli, Annapureddypalli and Karakagudem run classes up to seventh class, while the rest of the institutions offer education up to SSC.

The State government has decided to introduce Intermediate in nine institutions from 2018-19 academic year . The Education Department officials have sent proposals to the State government to this effect. The menu for the hostel inmates has been changed with effect from January 1.

As per the revised menu, inmates are being served mutton and chicken twice a week each, while egg and sweet are served one day each. Besides, 150 ml of milk is being served daily. The State government ordered hostel authorities to use Vijaya brand edible oil for cooking purpose. Also, it is toying with the idea of serving cosmetic kits later this month to the hostellers instead of paying them the cosmetic charges.

One of the hostel inmates Ch Swapna described the new menu being served to them from New Year is good. She welcomed introduction of Intermediate in some of the vidyalayas as it would be beneficial for many students and help them pursue higher education.
