Khammam: Progressive Democratic Student Union (PDSU) district president K Swapna questioned the government as to how it could give permission to introduce certain courses like Pharm-D in the colleges without promising of any employment opportunities.

Extending their support to agitating Pharm-D students, the representatives of PDSU took out a rally from Zilla Parishad Centre to Dharna Chowk here in Khammam on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Swapna alleged that the Pharmacy Council of India introduced six-year of Pharm-D course in colleges in 2008 without promising any employment opportunities to students.

“The Education department along with the government is behaving negligently towards the issues of Pharm-D students, who have been on relay hunger strike for the last 19 days,” she criticised. “It is pity to know that the State Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari have no knowledge about the Pharm-D course. By this, we can understand at what stage the education system of our State is in,” she pointed.

The government must fulfill the demands of Pharm-D students immediately besides providing them employment opportunities, otherwise, PDSU would intensify the protest and teach the government a fitting lesson, she warned. Union leaders D Swarna, A Sai, Umesh, Shirisha, Ramya and Jhansi were present along with others.
