Lovers die in suicide pact
In a tragic incident, a couple in love committed suicide by hanging to a tree apparently in a suicide pact in Polkampally village under Doulatabad mandal in Vikarabad district on Monday.

According to the villagers, Praveen (23) and Manjula (18) were in love with each other for the past one year. However, recently Manjula’s parents came to know about her love affair and expressed their opposition to her marrying the boy, The parents even arranged an engagement with another boy against her wishes.
Depressed over this, Manjula informed about her engagement to Praveen. Later they both realised that both their parents would never agree for their marriage and decided to end their lives by hanging.
Accordingly, both of them had decided to go out on the outskirts of their village in the night and hanged to a tree by tying their necks with a single rope.
The villagers reported the incident to the police. A pall of gloom descended on the village following the suicide of young couple. The parents of both the girl and boy were also shocked at the turn of the events.
The police booked a case and are investigating. “Both Praveen and Manjula who are having a love affair committed suicide by hanging as their parents have opposed their marriage. We have booked a case and investigating the matter further,” said T. Chandrasekhar, Sub Inspector of Kodgal.
