Khammam: Everyone should play an active role in transforming the country into “Malaria free” by 2030, appealed the District Medical and Health Officer Dr A Kondal Rao here on Wednesday.

A programme was organised on the occasion of the World Malaria Day here at District Medical and Health Office under the leadership of District Malaria Officer Dr Rambabu.

Dr Kondal Rao along with DMO Dr Rambabu and other health officials released a pamphlet, posters and flexy ‘Ready to Beat Malaria’ on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kondal Rao said it was the responsibility of everyone to prevent the spread of deadly disease by keeping the surrounding clean and neat.

The Deputy DM&HO Dr Bhaskar directed the health officials at village-level to create awareness among the people on malaria and steps to be taken to prevent it.

Dr Rambabu gave a PowerPoint presentation on the Malarial disease and explained about the steps to be taken to protect from mosquito bite and asked the people to wear the clothes which covers the entire body along with using mosquito nets.

Release the Gambusia Fish which eats the larvae of mosquitoes in water-logged areas to inhibit the larval growth. People suffering from fever should visit nearest hospital immediately and take proper treatment, he added.

Representative of Doctors Association Dr Nageswar Rao and District Immunisation Officer Dr Rambabu were present.
