kvpVijayawada: The third annual conference of the Kulavivaksha Vyatireka Porata Sangham (KVPS) will be held at Kankipadu for two days from March 17, said its Krishna district unit president G Nataraj. Speaking to the media here on Friday, Nataraj said that the conference would discuss issues concerning caste, untouchability, self-respect for under-privileged classes and the welfare schemes of the government for these neglected sections. He said that the KVPS had organised series of struggles since its formation in 1998, that resulted in announcement of Justice Punnaiah Commission, nodal agency for SCs and STs and sub-plan for SCs and STs. He said that the KVPS had played key role in securing GO MS 1235 issuing guidelines for allocation of lands for grave yards to every village, particularly for Dalits. They have been fighting to secure suitable lands for grave yards for every village in the district, he added. Nataraj asserted that the two-day convention would review the activities taken up by the KVPS in the last three years and would prepare action plan for the future. The KVPS activists from the district and the representatives of the SC and ST employees' associations would attend the conference, he said. Several retired IAS and IPS officers, legislators and former legislators, senior officials from the government departments would attend the conference.
