Telangana government has urged the Centre to sanction a defence industrial production corridor. In a letter to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, Industries Minister KT Rama Rao mentioned the state’s various advantages, outlining the eco-system and also being the number one in the country in ease of doing business.

The Minister pointed out the trained manpower in the state while stating that local youth could avail jobs with the proposed corridor and also boost the manufacturing sector.

Reminding that Telangana needs all the possible support from the Union Government, he wrote that with an already vibrant ecosystem in the private sector, the state has several established companies in the aerospace and defence sectors.

He shared that Telangana is home to several public sector defence enterprises and DRDO labs including Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), RCI, Bharat Dynamics Limited [BDL], Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd. (MIDHANI), Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory [DMRL], Nuclear Fuel Complex, Bharat Electronics, Ordinance Factory, CITD, Electronics Corporation India Limited [ECIL], BHEL and others.
