Hyderabad: It’s now increasingly becoming clear that former chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy is all set to rejoin the Congress.

On Wednesday, Kiran Kumar Reddy called on senior Congressman and Rajya Sabha MP T Subbarami Reddy and held discussions. Even former union minister Pallamraju too had gone to Kiran Kumar Reddy’s residence on Tuesday. Subbarami Reddy had said that he had invited Kiran Reddy to come back to the Congress and play an active role.

Kiran Kumar has been keeping a low profile after the state was bifurcated and had even announced he was leaving the Congress. The Congress has all but been wiped out in Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation. But, with the BJP’s stubborn attitude over the special issue status, the Congress wants to gain back its lost support.

The Congress leaders recently had a meeting with Rahul Gandhi, after which Rahul had announced that he would sign on the special status file soon after coming back to power in 2019. The Congress rulers feel Kiran Reddy’s return would boost the party’s prospects in the state.
