BENGALURU: A new scholarship scheme Prabuddha is all set to be launched by the government, for enabling the students belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe to pursue higher education in the best universities around the world.

The social welfare minister Priyank Kharge said that, “It allows students from SC and ST communities to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes in international universities at little or no cost.”

The scheme will be covering up to 100% educational expenses of the students whose family income per annum is less than Rs 8 lakh, students whose family income is more than Rs 8 lakh but less than Rs 15 lakh will be covered with 50% and 33% for those whose income exceeds Rs 15 lakh.

"It will cover students' course fees, living expenditure and airfare. Also, it entails 33% special reservation for women candidates every year and 4% for differently abled students," Kharge added.
