Senior IPS officer Dr Madhukar Shetty was dead on Friday night due to swine flu. Shetty was admitted to continental hospitals on Wednesday after he suffered an infection in lungs and heart.

After undergoing surgery and Shetty was put in intensive care. Meanwhile, the doctors declared that he was infected with swine flu. The condition of the officer worsened on Friday night and the doctor put him on a ventilator. Despite the efforts of doctors, Shetty breathed his last on the evening.

Born in Kundapur of Karnataka, Madhukar who belonged to 1999 IPS batch had been appointed as Chikamangulu SP. He was the son of Kannada journalist Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty.
