60 wholly unreserved 2nd Class Jansadharan Spl Trains for Sankranthi
Taking forward the avowed mission to serve rail customers across every economic strata with importance, the South Central Railway has taken initiative to run the highest ever 60 fully unreserved second class Jansadharan Special Trains between various important destinations during the ensuing Sankranthi season from 10th till 20th January
Hyderabad: Taking forward the avowed mission to serve rail customers across every economic strata with importance, the South Central Railway has taken initiative to run the highest ever 60 fully unreserved second class Jansadharan Special Trains between various important destinations during the ensuing Sankranthi season from 10th till 20th January.
The festival of harvest, celebrated prominently in both the Telugu speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana sees people travelling to their native places in huge numbers, during the holiday period. A sizeable section of the travelling public, plan their journeys well in advance and reserve their tickets either by the regular trains or other special trains. However, a significant percentage of the travelling public plan their journeys at short notice and prefer to travel at affordable options of transport. It is to cater to this needy segment of travelers that SCR has introduced Jansadharan Special Train services. Basing on the traffic trends, the 60 Jansadharan specials will run between Secunderabad/Hyderabad-Vijayawada; Secunderabad-Tirupati; Kakinada Town-Tirupati and Vijayawada-Vizianagaram (via Duvvada, Vizag).
The 60 Jansadharan Special trains comprising of fully unreserved second class coaches including exclusive accommodation for women passengers are expected to carry around 1.20 lakh of passengers travelling during the Sankranthi festival season. With the fare for travel by Jansadharan Expresses, being over 50% less than the comparable Bus travel options, it is expected that the trains will meet the expectations of the common people, on the basis of providing an easily affordable travel experience back home to their native places for the festival and in return. An example is the fare for travel by Jansadharan Special Train between Secunderabad - Vijayawada, which is Rs. 120/-, far less than any other alternative means. Adding to the same, the journey period of Jansadharan Expresses is almost matching to that of bus travel, thereby enabling reach destinations within reasonable time.
Passengers intending to travel by Jansadharan Special Trains can also avoid the rush at unreserved general booking counters by opting to purchase the tickets at the Jansadharan Ticket Booking Sewaks (JTBS) counters, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), Cash cum Coin Operated Ticket Vending Machines (CoTVMs). Further convenient, passengers can opt for the latest online facility of purchasing the tickets on their smart phones by accessing the Unreserved Ticketing System Mobile App (UTS on Mobile).
SCR has been able to attain its objective to provide the most convenient, cheapest and reasonably fast option of Jansadharan Special Trains travel by means of optimally utilizing all its resources such as the rolling stock, manpower and locomotives etc.,
