Hyderabad: To curb the road accidents and ensure a safe drive, the Rachakonda police have distributed around 300 free helmets to the vehicles found riding on roads without helmets during the road safety week held this year from February 4 and 10.
Most of the road accident victims are of two-wheelers and the deaths occurred due to the head injuries. The passengers have to be aware of wearing helmet and those who wear it only from being penalised, said founder of Indian Federation of Road Safety, Vinod Kumar Kasala.
In 2018, around 8,36,985 cases of helmet violation were registered last year.
