Doctors warn that hepatitis C which doesn’t have the cure is alarmingly rising due to lack of sterilization in the needles and using the needles over and over. When the needles are not disposed of properly the life-threatening spreads. In our country, the virus is mostly spreading due to blood transfusions and used needles and lack of sterilization. When the hepatitis c affects the liver to the core giving a pathway to cancer or liver cirrhosis. If the virus is detected at an early stage there are chances of it getting cured, but the virus at times doesn’t show any symptoms till it reaches the worst condition where the case could be fatal.

The hepatitis c statistics are more in the nation than HIV virus. When the hepatitis condition worsens the person can feel these symptoms like fatigue, jaundice, abdomen pain, loss of appetite can be seen. Through a blood test, we can detect this. There is no cure for hepatitis B but a vaccine is available to prevent this. Whereas hepatitis C neither can be cured nor has a vaccine. Indian society for clinical research says that in India there are more than 1.2 crore people affected with hepatitis C. There is hepatitis A, B, C, D and E out of which three doesn’t have any cure many people are falling fatally for it.

There is a need for immediate and urgent action to arrest the spread of hepatitis. In south-east Asia region, viral hepatitis is driving rates of Liver Cancer and cirrhosis and is causing premature deaths and disease with over 100 million people chronically infected. With hepatitis B and C virus.

There is an effective vaccine for hepatitis B and 90% of hepatitis C can be cured with proper efficient treatment.

The biggest concern is that many people who are infected are unaware of it, therefore, succumbing to liver cancer and cirrhosis. For the first time, hepatitis testing guidelines are going to be released by UN this year. WHO has also asked its member countries including India to step up efforts to arrest its spread.
