Vijayawada: In order to promote tourism in God’s own country, the Kerala Tourism Department has launched massive promotion activities with Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran visiting the city on Thursday.

The minister talking to newsmen here said that the Tourism department with the title ‘ComeOutandPlay’, formulated the new tourism policy to encourage young travelers to visit Kerala.

This could be described as promotion of domestic tourism with Kerala artistes coming all the way to the city to perform Kathakali, Kalaripattu and other traditional folklore to attract tourists.

Apart from the popular Kerala Boat Race League which is conducted every year in Alappuza, the Tourism department also opened Jatayu Earth’s Centre which is also called Jatayu Nature Park near Tiruvanthapuram.

The newly inaugurated nature park has the largest sculpture of Jatayu, the mythological bird with the dimension of 200 ft long, 150ft broad and 70 ft in height. It also contains an adventure sports centre for the young people including archery, wall climbing and trekking among others.

The noted hill resort, Munnar, is a major attraction where trekking, cycling could be undertaken.

This year’s attraction at Munnar is Neelakurinji, a rare flower which blossoms only once every 12 years and the tourists throng the hill resort of Munnar to explore the purple hues of the flower.

The Minister welcomes the young travelers to visit Kerala and enjoy the hospitality of the God’s own country.
