The special darshan for elderly people and disabled at Tirumala temple is a a progressive step and the whole geriatric organisations of India will emulate these tips of easy darshan and hail the decision of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.

They should do it now and then. There was an incident when I was accompanying Kiran Bedi, the present Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry who came as a Guest for a function of Madabhushi Ananthasayanam Institute of Public Affairs (MAIPA) and her daughter accompanied by the police officer was not allowed to go in the queue.

The Deputy Executive Officer allowed the physically handicapped and daughter to have darshan with her mother. Such things should not recur. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams should have a bulk of devotees to standby who can help the physically handicapped and providing the amenities and food and shelter.

- Dr. Agarala Eswara Reddi,
(former Speaker and Chairman of Geriatric Society of India, Tirupati Chapter)
