Priyanka Gandhi, the belle in the Congress party made her political debut as Congress general secretary and roared into Uttar Pradesh with a warm welcome by thousands of people who cheered her. Priyanka, though seemingly bubbly and cheerful, is highly apprehensive of her husband’s involvement in an alleged land scam in Rajasthan’s border town of Bikaner and that she steps into politics at a time when her husband Robert Vadra is being grilled by the Enforcement Directorate.
Such an inopportune time she has chosen to jump on the bandwagon of public politics, and certainly she has to fire on all cylinders to turn the hostile political situation into a friendly political situation.
Further, winning the people and converting them all into votes will not be a cakewalk for her. Her own husband having been allegedly involved in the land scam has taken, to a great extent, the verve out of her and what she does and preaches for political advantage for the Congress comes from compulsion. Anyway, being the granddaughter of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, she has some charm on her to change the political situation in our country, especially in the Uttar Pradesh.
