Lucknow: An IPS officer has filed a PIL challenging the awarding of Bharat Ratna to cricketer Sachin Tendulkar at Allahabad High Court on Thursday. The IPS officer Amitabh Thakur and a social activist Nutan Thakur has also sought a review of the method of choosing the recipient for the county's highest civilian award by the Bench.

The duo said conferring this award which has to be given after utmost scrutinity is an indication of "inaction and laxity" . Calling cricket a "tamasha" which is taking the Nation backwards they demanded that the award be given to other world-class sportsmen like Vishwanathan Anand, Milkha Singh or Geet Sethi.
The plea, is posted to November 25 for hearing.
