New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee Sunday left on a five-day visit to Norway and Finland during which a number of agreements, including on education and trade, will be signed.

The president will be in Oslo till Oct 14 and then proceed to Helsinki.

He is accompanied, though separately, by a large business delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry and other organisations.

Besides the 45 businesspeople, a team of senior educationists, heads of central universities, vice chancellors, and chiefs of the Indian Institutes of Technology are also part of the delegation.

His visit to the two countries holds significance as both are members of the Arctic Council - an intergovernmental group of eight Arctic states, to which India gained observer status in 2013.

Mukherjee is the first Indian head of state to visit Norway.
