No one was injured in the incident.
"There was some accidental firing on Gupkar road this morning. The matter is being investigated," a BSF spokesman said.
The jawan fired several rounds. Omar, who has been campaigning in Jammu region for the upcoming assembly polls, was not at his residence.

Following the incident, Omar Abdullah tweeted, "Not withstanding today's incident with the BSF jawan stationed at my residence in Srinagar today I have full confidence in my security team."
