Assam Municipality poll on Feb 9

Guwahati: A total of 2,901 candidates are in fray in the municipality poll of Assam which will be held on February 9, officials of state election commission said.

During a press conference held at Guwahati on Thursday, state election commission said that, a total of 14,84,496 voters will franchise their votes in the ULB’s election across the state.

“The election will be held in 743 wards under 74 nos urban local body,” a top official of state election commission said.

“We have taken all possible arrangements and beefed up security measures to held free and fair poll,” the official said.
