Back benchers and habitual losers since 1960’s of Bangalore University have been given a last chance.

The university seniors, as part of its special offer for the alumni, on university’s golden jubilee celebration have been offered a final chance to graduate. It is a special offer for the “super seniors” to take their exams they failed to clear when they studied in the university in the 1960s or later. But now or never is the rider.

On Wednesday morning, the seniors arrived at the KLE college exam center to which the university said that the response to the offer was very good; also that many have come from other countries.

"Over 1500 former students have applied. There are students who are now settled in Germany, US who are in their 50s and 60s but are flying to India to take the exams," said KN Ninge Gowda, the Registrar (Evaluation) of the University.

He explained that preparing the tests was tough, as the university had to dig out old syllabus and labor on a wide range of subjects to prepare an examination paper especially for these super seniors. But the university staff didn’t mind as they felt it was to give back to them. Most of the students have appeared for papers in Kannada, English, Maths and Sanskrit.

The exams that began today will end in April. The university also set up a special team of faculty and also research scholars to give some refresher teaching for the 'super senior students 'for a week or 15 days.
