Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi surprised the diners at Telangana and Andhra Bhavan on Sunday afternoon when he dropped in for lunch unannounced. He was accompanied by his nephew Raihan Vadra.

This is the first time Rahul is visiting the canteen after the formation of Telangana Bhavan. There were hardly 20-25 diners during the time and the security immediately sealed off the area. In-charge of the VIPs diners of the canteen Damodar Reddy served non vegetarian lunch consisting of Telugu delicacies of chicken biryani and tawa roti (phulkas) along with chicken fry, mutton fry, fish fry and chicken-65.
Both of them rounded off the main course with curds and sweet pongal (chakkera pongali). As usual, Rahul paid the bill in cash and left. When a group of Maharashtra Congressmen which was also present there sought to interact with him, he greeted them but politely declined asking them to "let me have my lunch peacefully", Damodar Reddy said.
