Guwahati, April 9 : High pitched campaign for second phase assembly poll in Assam by heavyweight national leaders and local leaders ended on Saturday evening.

A total of 525 candidates are fray in the second phase poll in 61 constituencies of the state to be held onApril 11.

Among the total candidates for the second phase poll 481 are male and 44 female candidates.

The total voters of the 61 constituencies are 1,04,35,277 and among them 53,91,204 are male and 50,44,051 are female voters.

Political leaders and candidates had made last efforts to woo the voters on Saturday.

On Saturday, BJP president Amit Shah, Union Home minister Rajnath Singh, Union HRD minister Smriti Irani had addressed several campaign rallies in Lower and Central Assam.

Voters will exercise their franchise to decide fate of several high-profile candidates on April 11 including former Chief Minister of Assam Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Himanta Biswa Sarma, perfume baron Badaruddin Ajmal, former president of BJP’s Assam unit Siddhartha Bhattacharya, powerful ministers of the state Rockybul Hussain, Dr Nazrul Islam, Dr Ardhendu Kumar Dey, Basanta Das, Chandan Sarkar, Sukur Ali, Chandra Mohan Patowary, Nilamoni Sen Deka.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP’s national president Amit Shah, union ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani, Jewel Oram, senior leaders of the saffron party had campaigned for the party candidates for the second phase poll.

On the other hand, for Congress its president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi, senior leaders Golam Nabi Azad had campaigned for the party candidates.

Bollywood Item Girl Rakhi Sawant had also campaigned for the candidates of Republican Party of India in Assam.

Over 82 percent polling turnout in the first phase poll held on April 4.
