New Delhi: Delhi airport custom officials on Wednesday seized gold worth Rs 27 lakh from an Indian passenger who was coming back from Bangkok. The gold was concealed in a sandal sole.

Weighing 938 grams, the gold was in the form of 118 cut pieces with a market value of around Rs 26.96 lakh, officials said.

In a similar incident, a team of custom officials seized gold bars worth Rs 32 lakh from a passenger at the Indira Gandhi Airport (IGI) on Tuesday.

The gold had been concealed in the rectum of the31-year-old passenger who alighted from a Bahrain flight, TOI reported.

"A full examination revealed that he was carrying six pieces of gold bars in his rectum," said the officer.
