Hyderabad: The State government on Thursday in a strategic move announced the decision on Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations. It has announced 43 per cent fitment as against 39 per cent last time.

This has come as a great surprise for the employees as they had been expecting that the government might agree for fitment of a maximum of 35-40 per cent. The government’s decision is welcomed by all the employee associations as it would get them cumulative benefit.

Another highlight of the PRC is that 43% fitment will benefit all sections of employees. If the percentage were less by one percent, it would have benefitted only the seniors. After careful consideration and calculations, the government decided on 43% fitment to prove that it is an employee-friendly government.

The employees are also elated as the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has agreed to implement the new scales from June 2. This is the first time that any government has agreed to implement PRC with retrospective effect. Normally the employees complain that they were losing benefit by several months and even years. Implementing PRC with retrospective effect will also help them get benefits of 11 months.

However, the employees who retired between July 2013 and June 2014 would stand to lose. The employees associations are now urging the government to see that such employees also get the benefits of the new PRC. Though the employees are in a jubilant mood, the contract and outsourcing employees are worried since the government had not said a word about them.

Analysts say that the government has made this quick move to announce the PRC keeping in view the ensuing MLC elections to graduates constituencies comprising Nalgonda, Khammam and Warangal and Hyderabad Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar which are to be held soon.

KCR has also set a record of sorts by not resorting to prolonged negotiations with employees associations on the issue of fitment.

He appears to be keen on capitalising on the positive sentiment of the government employees, analysts aver.
