Khanapur: About 1,000 Congress party activists, along with farmers, on Monday organised a ‘Rythu bharosa yatra’ from Badankurthi to Khanapur, under the leadership of the Khanapur constituency in-charge Ajmira Hari Naik, demanding the release of complete subsidy to farmers, payment of remunerative price to paddy and immediate payment of compensation to the families of farmers who allegedly committed suicide, besides providing financial assistance to them.

They orgtanised road blockade demonstration at the Telugu Thalli statue after undertaking a ‘padayatra’.Naik had undertaken a 10-km padayatra in various villages of the constituency to press the party’s demand for immediate implementation of the loan waiver scheme to farmers and payment of remunerative prices for their produce. During the yatra, he had interacted with people and inquired about their problems.

Naik told The Hans India that during his public interaction, particularly the farmers it became clear that the TRS government was adopting anti-people policies. “If the same trend continued the ruling party would not be able to withstand people’s revolt,” Naik warned He said that at least now, the State government should open its eyes and render justice to farmers after realising the harm that is being done to them.
