Addressing the tenth class boys and girls students, the inmates of the Backward Classes Welfare Hostel on Friday, she said that the future was entirely in their hands and it was up to them to either make or mar their careers.

They should toil hard to excel in academics or sports, she added. The District Collector told them not to neglect their studies as their parents have pinned high hopes on them.

She said that parents were making lot of sacrifices in educating their wards and the children should not belie their hopes. They should make their parents proud, she added.

Collector Rana urged students to set up goal and work hard to realize it. For instance, if they aim at the IAS officer’s job and work hard for it, they would at least join some branch under the category of the civil services, even if they could not make it to the IAS, she added. They could even settle down as a Group-I officer, she said.

The District Collector urged the girls to be financially independent and not depend on their husbands for money. Women should attain great heights breaking glass ceilings, she added. She said their husbands should depend on them. She advised them to critically learn the subject and not go just by rote learning.
