wargalNizamabad: District Collector Christina Z Chongthu urged the farmers to make use of Rytu Chaitanya Yatras (Rytu Sadassus) being organised in the district. The Collector participated in Indiramma Kalalu (awareness meeting on SC, ST Sub-Plan), Rytu Chaitanya Yatra and Amma Hastham programmes at SC Colony at Gandhari in the district on Tuesday. Addressing a meeting on the occasion, Ms Chongthu said that various development works would be taken up in SC, ST colonies by making use of SC, ST Sub-Plan fund. Basic amenities would be provided at the colonies with the fund. She urged the farmers to make use of Rytu Chaitanya Yatras which are being held in the district. The farmers have to come forward to conduct soil tests of their fields. Farmers would be educated on the use of organic manures, modern agriculture techniques to get better yields. The farmers would also be educated about various subsidies being provided by the Government for the purchase of modern farm equipment, seeds and fertilizers. The farmers have to become members of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) to avail various facilities, she said. The Collector said that physically challenged persons can attend the weekly camps being held at District Headquarters Hospital in Nizamabad on every Friday and get necessary certificates to avail benefits. ``Nearly, 60,000 applications are pending for sanction of monthly pensions in the district. Majority among them would be sanctioned pensions by making use of SC, ST Sub-Plan funds,'' Ms Chongthu said. `` Under Amma Hastham programme, essential commodities worth Rs 6.86 cr are being distributed to 6.41 lakh families (white ration card holders) across the district in a month,'' she said. Later, she distributed packets of essential commodities to some of the white ration card holders at the village. Divisional Manager (Supplies) Ramakrishna Rao, Mandal Special Officer Srinivas, Tahsildar Sankar Singh, MPDO Saya Goud and other officials were present.
