Manish the rising star

Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari is the latest rising star of the Congress. Manish, who succeeded in grabbing the most glamorous portfolio from veteran Ambika Soni, was also among those invited to functions of visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Manish caught the imagination of the Congress High Command with the ad blitzkrieg he launched ahead of the UPA fourth anniversary. Jingles in the idiom of youth showcased achievements of the UPA left the BJP red faced. The BJP, which fancies itself as media-savvy, was caught napping this time, when Manish Tewari managed to steal a march over the saffron camp.

Manish, in his unassuming style, even chided the BJP leadership for rushing to vent its venom against the UPA on the morning of the fourth anniversary of UPA-II. If the BJP had really any criticism to offer, it should have shown the courtesy of waiting for the UPA Report Card to be released and to make it the basis for its attack. But the BJP was in a rush to grab media space and attention along with the UPA on its big day and was in no mood to let go the opportunity.
