Andhra Chamber to honour Dr Galla

Vijayawada: The Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry will honour noted industrialist Dr Galla Ramachandra Naidu, here on Wednesday. A The Chamber will present its annual Excellence Award 2012 to him for his contribution to industrial growth in the State. Former minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao will present the award to Dr Naidu. The Chamber president M Muralikrishna and secretary Prasad R K Chukkapalli, in a statement informed that the award was being given to eminent persons in different fields for the past five years. The award was earlier presented to Indira Dutt (2011), Chukkapalli Pitchaiah in 2010, Chukkapalli Kusalava in 2009 and Gokaraju Gangaraju in 2008. They said that the 2012 awardee, Dr Ramachandra Naidu played a vital role in the industrialisation in the State. Dr Naidu laid foundation for Amara Raja Batteries in 1985 and found several industries later on its name. He also established various charitable trusts to extend service to people.
