hand2 Vijayawada: The National Handloom Development Corporation here on Monday inaugurated the 13-day long handloom exhibition at Swarna Vedika on M G Road. The Corporation's local manager, H M Sarma, said that the exhibition would run till March 31, 2013.A He said that handlooms from 13 States across the country are on display at the exhibition. The moonga silk from Assam, Gadwal, Dharmavaram and Pochampally from Andhra Pradesh, Tassar, Kantha, Madhubani prints from Bihar, tribal work and Kosa silk from Chattisgarh, printed silk saris from Delhi, Kantha and Kosa silk from Jharkand, Chintamani, Kasauti work and Karnataka silk from Karnataka, Chanderi and Maheswari from Madhya Pradesh, Paithani and Ponna saris from Maharastra, Bomkai and Sambalpur from Orissa, Bandhej from Rajasthan, Tanchi, Jamdani and Jamawar from Uttar Pradesh and Baluchari and Kantha Tangai from West Bengal are available for the customers. The weavers societies benefited under the Integrated Handloom Development Scheme are participating in the exhibition. He said that the cooperative societies recommended by respective State governments have established their stalls with their products at the exhibition.
