Chasing a massive 195-run target, RCB lost wickets at regular intervals against MI, which proved instrumental in their losing the match. After a classy half-century with bat, Dwayne Smith displayed his all-round capabilities by scalping two wickets. Bangalore lost AB de Villiers (2), skipper Virat Kohli (1), Chris Gayle (18) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (13) in just 13 balls for mere 9 runs as they faltered in their run chase. For hosts Mumbai, local-boy Dhawal Kulkarni struck thrice early in the innings to almost single-handedly ruined the RCB run chase. The pacer got rid of De Villiers and Kohli in the eighth over to reduce Bangalore to 43/4 in 7.4 overs. Electing to bat, Dwayne Smith, Dinesh Karthik and Kieron Pollard came up with brisk knocks to power MI to 194/7. Mumbai lost their seventh wicket when Saurabh Tiwary took a good diving catch at deep mid-wicket to dismiss Harbhajan Singh off R Rampaul. Bangalore captain Virat Kohli ran out Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu with direct hits.
