IBL 2013: Kashyap loses as Mumbai Masters beat Banga Beats 3-2 - Indian Badminton League: Mumbai Masters beat Banga Beats 3-2 - Banga Beats vs Mumbai Masters - The Mumbai Masters won a tight 3-2 battle against the Banga Beats in the second tie of Indian Badminton League (IBL) Thursday at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here. In the first match, Masters' Vladimir Ivanov caused an upset victory by defeating Bangalore's icon player Parupalli Kashyap 21-18, 21-18 in the first men's singles match. The Beats came back when Chinese Taipei's Ying Tai Tzu caused another upset by beating Danish great Tine Baun 21-17, 21-18 in the women's singles.
The Mumbai Masters won a tight 3-2 battle against the Banga Beats in the second tie of Indian Badminton League (IBL) Thursday at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here. In the first match, Masters' Vladimir Ivanov caused an upset victory by defeating Bangalore's icon player Parupalli Kashyap 21-18, 21-18 in the first men's singles match. The Beats came back when Chinese Taipei's Ying Tai Tzu caused another upset by beating Danish great Tine Baun 21-17, 21-18 in the women's singles.
Danish Carsten Mogensen and India's Akshay Dewalkar of the Beats easily overcame Indian pair Pranaav Chopra and Manu Attri 21-13, 21-12 in the men's doubles match to give the Bangalore-based team a 2-1 lead. However, Mumbai reverted by winning the next two rubbers and sealing the tie. In the second men's singles, Masters' Marc Zweibler brought them back by triumphing in the do or die clash by beating Beats' Hu Yun 17-21, 21-17, 11-6 in the fourth match.
With the tie to be decided in the fifth rubber, mixed doubles pair of Mumbai - Vladimir Ivanov and N. Sikki Reddy - came out good winning the clash in straight games to seal the tie in their favour. Ivanov and Sikki defeated Dewalkar and Aparna Balan 21-18, 21-19. Masters' icon player and World No.1 Lee Chong Wei wasn't available for the clash.
