India keeps up the tradition; beats Pakistan by 76 runs

India’s ICC World Cup 2015 Opening match; Pakistan defeated India defeated Pakistan by 76 runs in the opening match and continued the streak of defeating Pakistan in World Cup matches

With Virat Kohli’s stupendous century followed by brilliant knocks by Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina, India set up a target of 300 for seven wickets in their opening match of ICC Cricket World Cup against Pakistan. Pakistan’s fast bowler Sohail Khan grabbed a five wicket haul restricting India in the final overs of the first innings. Defending the total, India fought back with the bowling department too with the constant falling wickets; Mohammed Shami took three wickets while Umesh Yadav grabbed two wickets.


Misbah-ul-Haq’s amazing knock of 76 gave Pakistan a tough fight but with dismissals at the other end, it was a lone battle for the Pakistani captain. India dismissed Pakistan for 224 runs in 47 overs. With this defeat, India continued the tradition of defeating Pakistan in the World Cup matches.
