England have named wicketkeeper-batsman Jonathan Bairstow as the replacement for rested Jos Buttler for the remaining ODIs of the five-match series against Australia.

Coach Trevor Bayliss said that he was aware of the heavy workload Buttler had to go through this year as he had been indulged in all forms of cricket and, therefore, it would benefit him to take rest ahead of the winter tours.

Bayliss added that resting players would provide opportunity for others, insisting that Bairstow has a chance to build on his one day form he showed during the series against New Zealand,Sport24 reported.

Meanwhile, David Willey and Reece Topley will also come into the squad to bolster the bowling attack.

England are trailing 0-2 in the series after suffering a 64-run defeat against Australia in the second ODI at Lord's in London.

The two sides will now lock horns in the third ODI at Old Trafford on September 8.
