The three day S V Ramayya Memorial Andhra Pradesh Tennis Tournament had began at the Tennis Complex, Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium (IGMC) and Vijaya Madhavi Loyola Tennis Academy, here on Friday. The tournament was inaugurated formally by Managing Director of APSRTC, N Sambasiva Rao.

He called upon the parents to ensure that get their children involved in physical activities of their choice. ''Tennis is a sport preferred by youngsters who are making it big in the district and State level tournaments.

It is very welcoming to see that parents are coming forward to encourage their children to take part in sports and other activities'', said he. The preliminaries to pick out the eligible players were held on Thursday at the Loyola Tennis Academy.

More than 200 players from across the 13 districts had come to participate in the tournament. The finals will be held on Monday at the IGMC stadium and prizes worth Rs 25,000 will be given away to the winners.

District sports development officers P Rama Krishna,secretary of the Krishna District Tennis Association K Radha Krishna Murthy, tournament director G Sivarama Krishna and others were present during the programme.
