Hyderabad: Champions Telangana men opened their title defence with a flourish while destroying NTR Delhi 3-0 on the first day of the 18th edition of All India BSNL Carrom tournament at RTTC at Gachibowli here on Friday.
However, the women team suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Karnataka. Incidentally, except for that match all others ended in a 3-0 verdict.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (TS & AP) Executive Director, Rahul Bharadwaj.
Present on the occasion were veteran international Syed Nisar Ahmed, senior officials and administrators, including SK Sinha, V Sundar, K Ramchand and G Ramesh.
Results: Men: Telangana bt NTR Delhi 3-0; Tamil Nadu bt UP East 3-0; Gujarat bt North East 3-0; Karnataka bt Bihar 3-0; Women: Odisha bt Bihar 3-0; Tamil Nadu bt NTR Delhi 3-0; Karnataka bt Telangana 2-1.
