work Srikakulam: District Collector Saurabh Gaur said that Employment Guarantee works worth Rs 310 crore have been taken up in the district. During a tour of Seetampeta and other areas on Wednesday, the Collector examined the Nutrition Centre at Kusimi village and held discussions with the Self-Help Groups (SHGs). He said pregnant women would get nutritious food at these centres for Rs 10. Children and pregnant women who have availed the services of these centres were healthy and there has been a notable reduction in foeticides, he claimed. The total amount spent on food was less when compared with the income from Employment Guarantee works, he said. Out of the 12,000 families availing the services of Employment Guarantee Scheme, as many as 7,200 families have completed 100 working days and 2,000 families have completed 150 working days, he said adding that additional income of Rs 5,000 was generated by the extension of work by 50 days. The Collector said people were getting benefitted by the 109 food centres that have been set up. The services of 108 Ambulance would be used to shift pregnant women to the hospitals and those accompanying the pregnant women would be given food free of cost. A reward of Rs 1,000 is given to the beneficiaries of government hospitals. During his tour, the Collector instructed the officials to prepare estimates for repairs to the damaged drinking water pipes. Women's societies were trying to set up poultry farms and an MCP should be prepared for this task, he said. He examined the water supply scheme constructed in Y Mutyalu Village and said that the platform should constructed with the funds of Gram Panchayat and small repairs should also be done with those funds. He said that the village would have cement road under employment guarantee scheme and called upon the villagers to build personal washrooms and also to use solar power. A The Collector examined the GD processing unit in Jilledipadu village organised by Santoshimata self-help group. He instructed the IKP officials to provide guarantee cards for the processing machines. He also gave a call to abolish wine belts.
