He also promised to erect Jayashanker’ s statue in the city and rename Ekshila Park in Warangal after the late professor.

Speaking at a function organised as part of Jayashankar’s third death anniversary at TRS party office, KCR recalled professor’s yeomen services in the long drawn struggle for the separate state of Telagnana. He said till his last breath, Jayashanker thought and dreamt about Telangana and nothing else, he said.


Like a one-man army, he took up the cause and fought for it. He organised and attended meetings in all districts, including some parts of Andhra Pradesh. Jayashankar tried to create awareness among people about injustice meted to Telangana region in all sectors. He played a key role in getting support of 33 national and regional parties for statehood demand. Even the text read out by the then Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9 in 2009 acknowledged this fact, KCR said.


TRS MP K Keshav Rao, Finance Minister Etela Rajender felt that Jayashankar’s teachings impressed many to take up the fight for statehood movement. It has been three years since he passed away. TRS leaders will draw inspiration from him and work with commitment in rebuilding of Telangana State, they said.
