Plea to make PV a Bharat Ratna
Hyderabad: Plea to Make P V Narasimha Rao a Bharat Ratna, Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao on his 93rd birth anniversary which was observed as a state function for the first time.

Hyderabad: Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao on his 93rd birth anniversary which was observed as a state function for the first time.
Governor E S L Narasimhan, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, a host of ministers, MPs, MLAs, Jnanpeeth awardee C Narayana Reddy, PV’s kin P V Rajeswara Rao and Vani Devi offered floral tributes to the "son of the soil" at PV Gnana Bhoomi.
Recalling his close association with PV, Governor Narasimhan said, “ A leader like P V Narasimha Rao is very rare on the Indian political map. He said, as a bureaucrat working with PV, he had the opportunity to accompany him on many foreign visits. He described the late Prime Minister as a man who took bureaucratic decisions. "My indecision is a conscious decision," Narasimhan quoted PV as telling him once, when he had gone to get a file cleared.
He said, “PVji” had a great sense of humour. He will finish you off with that. He was a man of great ideals. He is not a man or name to be forgotten," Narasimhan added. Stating that the former PM was a 'lover of Ayurveda', the Governor asked the Telangana government to develop a herbal garden at the PV Gnana Bhoomi.
BJP vice-president Bandaru Dattatreya said that he would urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna on PV. The Telangana Chief Minister said the state Cabinet would soon pass a resolution requesting the Centre to confer Bharat Ratna on the late legend. KCR also announced that a memorial building that would house the memorabilia of the late Prime Minister would be constructed in Hyderabad. "It will showcase PV's life, his literature, speeches and other things," he said.
Describing PV as one of the greatest sons of Telangana, who brought up revolutionary changes in the administration, Rao said the government would name one of the new districts that would be carved out soon after PV Narasimha Rao. The government would name a new university in Telangana after him and would install a statue at a suitable place in the City,” Rao said.
