Hyderabad: To make education free from the clutches of corporate and politicians and provide better education system in Telangana, eminent educationist Prof. Kancha Ilaiah on Saturday demanded that government construct kindergartens on a par with private playschools like Bachpan and Zee schools in villages.

Addressing a press meet on ‘KG to PG in English Medium’ at News Service Syndicate in Himayat Nagar here, Ilaiah called for scrapping up of Intermediate education system and, instead bring in class XII system. He demanded that all entrance examination system in the State should be abolished and shut down of coaching institutes. He said, "The admissions into higher education should be based on the class XII and Graduation score.

On frequent calls for bandhs, he appealed to the T government and TJAC not to call for bandhs as it would severely impact the academics of students. The government should take legal route and appeal in apex court against any issue, including the Polavaram project, instead of shutting down the schools and colleges, he added.

Criticising ex-MLC and educationist Chukka Ramaiah, he questioned “how could a MLC run education institutions? Ilaiah said, "Ramaiah model is a dangerous model. How can a MLC run a coaching institute? On one hand they call for bandhs and on other, they run their coaching institutes.
