Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar RaoHyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday said he was ready for talks with his Andhra counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu on contentious issues.

He said he believed in pursuing diplomacy and respecting all the neighbouring CMs whether they are from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh. But, he said, while extending an olive branch of talks, the AP Chief Minister was cancelling Power purchase agreements and was adopting confrontationist attitude.

He wondered why Naidu, who is going around bragging that the would build a new capital modelled after Singapore by spending millions of rupees, cannot bear the expenditure for fee reimbursement.

Replying to a question on demolition of illegal buildings, KCR said the government was determined to take back the land that has been allotted “left right and centre” by the previous government. He said his government will take back the land allotted to Lanco Hills. Though the land on which Microsoft has come up belongs to Wakf board, the government will not disturb that company but will pay compensation to the wakf board.

KCR further said the government will hire international consultants to convert Hyderabad into a global city. The Cabinet has also decided to nominate Karne Prabhakar as MLC in nominated quota and Rayadin Rhodes as MLA in Anglo Indian quota.

The Cabinet also decided to waive of loans of power loom workers to the tune of Rs 6.50 crore.

Among other decisions are division of 89 corporations into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, giving training to RMP doctors and issue certificates to them, constitution of a State advisory council consisting of senior journalists and people from other walks of life to suggest guidelines for development of the new state, creation of a new welfare board for taking care of NRI's particularly those who are in gulf and constituting State election commission.

Asked about his dream project of houses for the poor, the Chief Minister said it would take some more time. "I am not in a hurry. Lot of misuse of funds had taken place in the earlier housing schemes," he said. In view of this, the government would carefully work out the modalities and will select the beneficiaries in gram sabhas, he added.
