Before commencement of the Vratham, the priests of the Ashta Lakshmi temple performed 'Kumkumarchana', in which thousands of devotees took part. 'Vara Lakshmi Vratham', commenced at 6 pm. While about 500 women directly participated in this, thousands of devotees attended and offered their prayers. HMTV provided live telecast of the ritual for two hours.

Friday being a very auspicious day for women in particular, thousands of devotees thronged the temple since early morning. Varalakshmi Vratham is performed in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu with great reverence. Women get up early in the morning and perform the puja of Goddess Lakshmi. As part of this celebration, the temple priests performed different kinds of pujas at the temple.

According to temple authorities, more than 20,000 devotees visited the temple in the morning. Women dressed up colorfully to mark the festive fervour and participated in the special rituals performed during the day.
