Hyderabad: The office of Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce (APFCC) at Jubilee Hills here was ransacked by a group of supporters of producer Ramakrishna Goud on Friday morning. Window panes of the film chamber office were damaged in the attack.

Producer Ramakrishna has been sitting on an indefinite hunger strike for the past six days in front of the chamber demanding the abolition of ‘theatre lease system’ in the film distribution process.

“This is dampening the prospects of ‘small-budget’ films. The distributing system is affecting the small cinema from being released,” said the agitators. “We demand bringing of new methods in the distribution system to allocate theatres for the small-budget films,” they shouted.

Production activities in the industry have been hit with more than 10,000 employees resorting to strike since Monday demanding the abolition of lease system and better work conditions.

With the biggies from the Telugu film industry and chamber members choosing to ignore the strike, the supporters of Goud have tried to attack the film chamber.

Police, on receiving the information, rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

Cops pacified the agitators who were engaged in vandalism.
