Warangal: The leaders of the Telangana Pensioners Central Association on Sunday demanded the State government to extend the benefit of Telangana increment to pensioners on a par with the serving employees.

The association leaders also wanted the government to establish a separate directorate to look after the needs of about two lakh pensioners in the State. The bifurcation of about 92,000 pensioners in Hyderabad should be done immediately, they said.

About 60,000 pensioners in Hyderabad belonged to Andhra region hence steps for the payment of pension for them through Andhra Pradesh exchequer should be made so as to lessen the burden on Telangana treasury. These demands were put forth at the first State convention of the association organised here on Sunday. Association State leaders G Narasaiah, T Prem Kumar, R Ranjana, K Narender, E Navaneetha Rao and E Sravankumar, district leaders J Damoda ram, Sarwar Hussain, P Sarangapani, Rajalingam, Md Ikramuddin and G Krishna Murthy attended the convention.


Association advisor and Telangana Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud, Employees JAC leaders G Deviprasada Rao, K Ravinder Reddy, V Srinivas Goud, P Subba Rao, K Rajesh Kumar, A Jaganmohan Rao, noted singer Jayaraj and others also attended the event and extended their support to the pensioners’ demands. During the meeting the association also passed various resolutions. They expressed gratitude to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for fulfilling their demand of providing health cards to pensioners.

Release of salary for the pensioners, who took part in the 42 days Sakala Janula Samme, setting up of welfare fund, providing housing plots and revival of pensions stopped because of cases during the service were among the resolutions passed. Swamy Goud and Deviprasada Rao pointed out that the pensioners played a key role in Telangana movement.


Measures to protect their interests would be taken, they asserted.
