Farmer commits suicide in RR dist

Tandur: A farmer committed suicide by setting himself afire after dousing his body with kerosene at Bandapally village under Peddemul mandal on Tuesday. The farmer Maniaiah (38) took the extreme step as the burden of debts mounted. He borrowed Rs 40,000 from the Cooperative Bank and Rs 70,000 from moneylenders. The cotton and redgram crops on his four-acre plot wilted because of dry conditions. Peddemul MPTC member Vidyasagar and deputy sarpanch Vishnuvardhan Reddy expressed their condolence to the family of the farmer.
