Ask TS Chief Minister not to do anything to divide people on the basis of region

‘Though the courts have snubbed the TS government many times on different issues, there does not appear to be any change in the tone and tenor of the speeches being made by KCR both in the Assembly and outside’

Hyderabad: Two Naidus - Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu - on Sunday advised the Chief Minister of Telangana not to adopt confrontationist attitude as that would harm the interests of the State and the common man.

Though both of them spoke at different functions, the general theme was that an elected government should not do anything to divide the people or the society on the basis of region and language.

Speaking at a programme to release the special cover of the founder of ECIL Dr A S Rao here on Sunday, Venkaiah Naidu took indirect jibes on Telangana Chief Minister K, Chandrashekar Rao.

He faulted leaders who continued to provoke people on the basis of region and create dissensions between them. People would reject such leaders who tried to divide the society on the basis of region and language, he said. “The Chief Ministers of two Telugu States should strive for betterment of their respective States by resolving any differences through talks. The State of Telangana was created for better and faster development and this should not be forgotten by any leader,” he said.

On the other hand, the AP Chief Minister at a hurriedly convened press conference at his residence lashed out at his Telangana counterpart for targeting him personally over power crisis, dispute with regard to sharing of water, holding of intermediate and EAMCET examinations and division of employees.

Naidu said the TDP could never think of going against the interests of the people of Telangana and would not render injustice to the State. The division of erstwhile united AP was only geographical, he said. Naidu said it was KCR who was taking unilateral decisions which in the long run could harm the interests of people of Telangana.

Though the courts had snubbed the TS government many times on different issues, there did not appear to be any change in the tone and tenor of the speeches being made by his counterpart both in the Assembly and outside, Naidu said. He took strong exception to the TRS government's decision that Telangana nativity would be granted only to those who were living since 1956 in the region. If the rule is enforced, majority of people in Hyderabad would have to leave the place.

He said reciprocity between the two States would only address the issues raised by two sides after the division of State.

The Chief Minister also criticised KCR for targeting Telagnana TDP on every issue. He suggested the government to stop politicising the issues and concentrate on good administration.
