Telangana sets up high-level panels
The Telangana government on Saturday constituted a High Powered Committee and Project Management Unit (PMU) for establishing a well-connected CCTV surveillance network in Hyderabad covering Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates.
Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Saturday constituted a High Powered Committee and Project Management Unit (PMU) for establishing a well-connected CCTV surveillance network in Hyderabad covering Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates.
The 10-member High Powered Committee will be chaired by the State Chief Secretary. Principal Secretaries of Home, Municipal Administration and Information Technology Department, Secretary Finance, DGP, GHMC Commissioner, HMRL MD and Cyberabad Commissioner will be the other members, while Hyderabad Police Commissioner will be committee’s Member Convener.
The Committee will take all the decisions necessary for successful implementation of CCTV Surveillance Project. It will review and approve the appointment of all the consultants required for the implementation of the project. It will also approve the technical proposal of the Project Consultant, approve the lowest evaluated bidder and review the progress of the project at periodic intervals. The committee will also issue necessary policy directions and guidance for successful execution of the project and create a supporting environment for its success.
The panel will meet once in every two months to review the progress of the project. Likewise, the eight-member Project Management Unit (PMU) will be chaired be Hyderabad Police Commissioner, while Cyberabad Commissioner would be its Member Convener. It will primarily take care of technical aspects of the project and also recommend for appointment of Technical Consultant-cum-Transaction Advisor.
The proposed project will have a state of the art monitoring at Central Command Control Centre with latest video analytics. This system is meant to ensure that every inch of the city which houses several vital installations are mapped round-the-clock through the surveillance cameras.
It will also help various other government departments and agencies in effective discharge of their functions such as monitoring road conditions, garbage and wastage management, pipe line leakages etc., through their own Command Centres where all or selective video feeds from field cameras are streamed based on the need. Thus, this city-wide video surveillance system will also help achieving the smart city objectives apart from safe city.
