5-yr-old girl falls into borewell, rescued

Hyderabad: A five-year-old girl, Anjali, slipped into an abandoned borewell around 6.30 pm on Tuesday in Govindapally village in Ganded Mandal in Ranga Reddy district while she was playing. She was safely rescued in a three-hour joint effort by the police, rescue team and local residents, an official said.

“Anjali was rescued with the efforts of a team of policemen, along with help of revenue officials, Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who dug another pit parallel to the borewell and brought her out safe,” the cops said. She was stuck at a depth of around 12 feet, where her voice was still audible to people who tried to rescue her. JCB machines were pressed into the rescue operation.
